CPT Code: 93922 Ankel Brachial Index (ABI) = Non-invasive physiologic studies of upper and lower extremity arteries; bilateral single level. Medicare reimbursement varies by state but on average you can bill Medicare $75 for each examination. So if you do 3 examinations a week, you will be able to bill $11,700 a year. Easily justifying the cost of this machine and with the forms and printout, all requirements are met.

ABI EXAM EXPLAINED:
The most common test to diagnose Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) is the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) examination. The ABI is a simple non-invasive test performed with a doppler and blood pressure cuffs. The test measures the systolic pressures at the lower and upper extremeties. If the ankle systolic pressure is lower than the arm systolic pressure the patient could have some stage of peripheral arterial disease. An ABI chars is used to calculate the results. Risk factors are: leg pain, diabetes, heart disease, previous vascular sugery, numbness/tingling in lower extremeties, over 50 years of age, hypertension and smoking.
